Strain Gauge Stress Analysis
for Mechanical and Structural Applications

The stress conditions in complex mechanical and structural systems are often difficult to assess. Calculated load paths do not always reflect reality, and the actual loading of individual components frequently remains hidden.
We provide high-precision, strain gauge-based stress analyses for mechanical engineering, steel structures and specialised technical applications where real loads must be assessed reliably and documented comprehensively.
Our analysis concepts are not developed on the drawing board alone, but in close coordination with your specific requirements.

How the Analysis Works

When Strain Gauge Stress Analysis Is Required

The need for action typically arises in several scenarios: when there is uncertainty about the actual load paths during operation, when analytical models and underlying assumptions need to be validated, when verification is required following design modifications or as part of a failure analysis, or when a monitoring or retrofit concept is being prepared and reliable measurement data is needed as a basis.

Our Analysis Procedure

The process begins with the careful definition of a measurable analysis objective: What exactly do you need to know, and how must the measurement be designed to provide meaningful answers?

Based on this objective, we develop a targeted measurement-point concept and select the appropriate strain gauge configurations. Depending on the requirements of the task, measurements are carried out directly on the component, on the complete system or under controlled test-rig conditions.

Once the measurements have been completed, all signals are evaluated in detail, the load spectra are interpreted and the stress conditions are assessed from an engineering perspective.

Finally, we put the results into context and provide specific recommendations for the next steps, whether this involves design optimisation, operational decisions or the development of a monitoring concept.

What the Analysis Delivers

The results provide a robust, evidence-based foundation for key technical decisions. They allow you to verify your design and adjust it where necessary, make well-founded operational decisions and, once the load situation is clearly understood, develop a targeted monitoring concept focused on critical load cases.

Where continuous condition information during operation is beneficial, we can build on the analysis to implement a monitoring concept using sensor-equipped fasteners, including seamless data integration with control systems, edge dashboards or cloud-based solutions.
